sup guys... i just picked up a new monitor. Its a samsung p2370hd and i love it!! so far HD looks great, my ps3 looks awesome no dead pixels ects.. BUT i went into teh video settings in tf2 and i tried changing it from 4:3 ratio to 16:9 but it wont change... teh game looks kinda stretched to me. Is there some i have to do to get it to change? this is my rig..

amd athlon 64 x2 4200+ 2.21 ghz
gigabyte MB
ATI HD4850 512 mb
2 gigs of gskill ram
250g HD
and of course my new monitor hooked up thru DVI

any suggestions? I used to have an older 17in LCD non wide screen that was hooked up with VGA

Well first I'm assuming you are using a DVI or HDMI cable. Is it just the game that looked stretched and the desktop or anything else? Make sure to use the monitor's natural resolution. Even resolutions with the same ratio may look awkward. Also, in TF2's startup settings try using putting both the commands on the input like so "-noborder -windowed". TF2 is terrible with anti-aliasing and it's nearly unplayable for me without it, tell me if it looks fine on your natural resolution without. You do know it, right? Most new monitors are 1920x1080.

yea my native is 1920x1080 and i got it now, i felt like such a newb when i figured it out...rofl but it looks great now and i have tf2 at 1920x1080 as well. should i leave it like that?? thx!

you should, you could play it windowed otherwise because when it's not on its natural resolution it won't look as good. Make sure when you buy electronics or hardware you check the specs first, a lot of reviews and compare it, I take days doing that before actually buying something. That's all the fun of shopping.

I have a similar monitor (same resolution) I used 16:10 aspect ratio and it looks fine.

thx neo, i researched and found this to be best monitor/TV for teh price.. i paided 225 shipped and love it. I got it all figured out now, just my newbie ass was changing my aspec ratio but i never changed my res and was wondering why it wasting werking...LOL and yes it looks awesome!
