Online gaming needs a free league to feed the pay-to-play leagues, and I can almost promise you that whatever league rises to fill CAL's hole won't be nearly as good.

i suppose you could say it was "hyped" because they supported a good amount of games, and have been around for a super long time (also always been free to everyone) thus a league that everyone knows about and most everyone who has played semi-popular games competitively played in it at one point.

That's a completely ignorant post if you're going to tell me that sean, ramsey (stop saying lolp faggot), kyle, and scottb among others did not do their job. Coming from someone else who deals with whiny faggots all day i'd say they've done an extraordinary job, if i was in their shoes i probably would have quit a long time ago.

I do have to agree with a few people in this thread though. CAL is going to be the best FREE league with some sort of anti cheat you would find. Good luck hoping htgn, BOE (rofl) or TGL or TWL can compare with them. The fact of the matter is that cal is where MOST of us started our competitive gaming at (TWL doesn't really count as competitive, no offense, unless you're referring to their AA leagues, and possibly now their l4d leagues) People get their start in cal, then take the next step wanting to pay to play(cevo), wanting to lan, and everything else. Whether you admit it or not they are needed for the future of competitive gaming.

As far as CAL goes, there really is no definitive word as to when things will be back up and running, or even how the league will be structured and ran when that time comes. If anything, though, the amount of downtime the new owners have allowed without providing its player base, or more importantly its admins, with any status updates goes to show how poorly the league may be structured upon revival.

Gun sounds had to be default for other games since it was people with guns vs people with guns so any changes would give an obvious advantage. You should honestly think about this for a second. IT can be extremely unfair. If we were to allow custom sounds, then where would the limit be. You could litterly have each sound be a certian tone, making it extremely easy to detect approching enemies. Because it would be a continues tone and therefor a growl which usually would be faint and fluctuating, instead would be loud and distinguished. Making it completely unfair unless the other team had the same sounds. Therefor, no. Default sounds are the only way to keep it consistant and fair.
