View Full Version : e-rev.tv
Hey guys, I'm not sure where to post this but if this topic needs to be moved, have at it. I read back in January & have been keeping an eye on it recently... But at e-rev Maday, the founder of madcastgaming wanted a L4D casting section but couldn't get it put up until spectators were available.
I quote
"Obviously I am aware that until spectate mode is fixed that we can't cast it, but we do need a Left 4 Dead section in the forums."
Personally I think E-rev does a very good job with their casting. Anger is well known for the COD4 casting, quite funny and he knows the game very well too. Some of the guys from e-rev have been to some big lans. I'm sure someone over there has some knowledge over the game & if not maybe someone in our community can try to get into L4D casting. PwnageTV didn't do a terrible job for a first cast, but it wasn't really that good.
Now, they didn't have a L4D section over at e-rev until yesterday (http://e-rev.tv/forums/index.php?showtopic=499) when I posted about our community or whoever figuring out how to get spectators in the servers & that PwnageTV was doing the first cast.
I put up a topic in their section you can check it out HERE (http://e-rev.tv/forums/index.php?showtopic=574)
E-rev has this L4D section NOW (http://e-rev.tv/forums/index.php?showforum=58). Jump on over to their forums, register and start posting. I mentioned that CEVO was locking registration soon so maybe we can get some casts going once the season starts.
Suggestions, comments or criticism welcomed.

I have a couple of AA buddies that do shoutcasting at e-rev... he was actually my previous CS:S sponsor. They aren't as well known as pwnage.tv, but I admit they do a decent job. Good job on initiating that, and glad to see we're bringing multiple casting companies on board with L4D.
ugh they are better than pwnage

I think its definitely a good thing that multiple organizations are interested in broadcasting l4d matches. that is crucial for marketing competitive l4d imo, basically to show everyone that l4d should be given more attention competitively speaking. think of it as how much the big three networks on tv help these up and coming shows and things of that nature. it's the same idea and i think in the end having more than one premier casting company will be extremely beneficial, besides everyone likes some variety.

Quick little side note so that you are aware. Pwnage.tv had previously talked with us personally before we had even set up spec slots about casting l4d and as you may have read in the front of the site, partnered with comml4d.
In the way the buisness world works, you dont go around your parnters to another company for any reason at all. Since this was the first cast using this feature, they were entitled to it.
This does not mean that other companies are not allowed to shoutcast. And Im sure that a variety will do good as it creates a competition for other companies to do better. But as good buisness practices go, they were pretty much garunteed the first cast. So please get over it. They did a pretty decent job for a first cast.
In there defense, its a little difficult in spec view cause you never get to see the infected names when there in spawn mode, so its hard to tell who did what where until after its done. So yes they had some name mix ups, and callled some spots wrong, but give them a break guy's.
And alex...... I love you

Well I'm not complaining about PwnageTv. They don't seem too knowledgeable about the game, yes they have the basics and it's a start, hell.. you gotta start somewhere.
But who cares who was first or who was second to shoutcast a game? It's going to get around eventually so telling me to "Please get over it." What's there to get over?
Who says I'm going around a partner to another company? Personally I like e-rev better. Nothing against Pwnage but that's how it is. I've been watching COD4 casts since e-rev first started doing it. Anger is an awesome shoutcaster and puts a lot of time into what he does. I just figured if the spectator slots are available why not put it out there to other casting sites/companies. It'll build the community and the competitive play if enough people take interest in it.
I understand what you're saying and maybe some feelings are hurt (lol?) but I'm just throwing it out there to e-rev especially since they posted back in Jan. about wanting a L4D section/casting.

Feelings arnt hurt it all, it sounded like in your first post you were butt hurt that e-rev didnt do the first cast. Thats all. Talking about how they already had an l4d section and pwnage didnt. If you reread your post, it sounds like you were upset that pwnage got to do it first, and all i did was explain why.
I don't think anyone is denying that pwnage.tv didn't do a great job on the first l4d cast, because they deffinitly did. For people who don't even play the game they blew l4dnao out of the water. The casters themselves were excellent and with some time they will be really good once they learn the tips and tricks of the game.
Taking a look at cevo, gamefire, pwnage.tv and e-rev all have broadcasting rights. I seem to recall game fire having the most control and them being able to cast which ever match they wanted back in cod4. Not sure if that still stands.
The more casting companies interested in casting l4d is great, it means high profile matches will deffinitly be pushed by the casting companies since they need viewers.

I don't think he works for e-rev anymore after he quit PC games to engage in faggot activities also known as console.

Wow... I didn't see him being "butthurt" at all from his post Cart... but after re-reading it.. yea i kinna see how u can take it that way...
Anyway... as I mentioned before.. i jus know some of the e-rev guys.. but i think pwnage is the more "popular" shoutcasting. Since it was a last minute thing, I'm sure they decided to go with already STAFFED Pwnage.tv members (hence using CS guys).. but I'm sure there are plenty of L4D players that are very knowledgeable about the game, would be up for some shoutcasting and would be good at it. It was the first one. I'm sure there's more to come.
So will you guys every publicly advertise how to add the spec spots? I wanna try it on my server >_<

Patience is a virtue. Dont worry, you will get your hands on it soon enough. The process is just being made more user friendly is all. Cause as of now, you must do things, very notty things to your server, that are so not nice. ;)
No, not butthurt or mad at all. Lol, sorry for the misunderstanding.
I enjoyed the cast.. wish they had a bit more knowledge but it was decent. :)

all this doesnt really matter, theres at least 4 companies interested in casting l4d, pwnage got the jump on it by partnering with comml4d, but you will see e.rev, gamefire and tgbf casting l4d in the future, they all have thier pros and cons.
@alex : lol fluke quit pc games to play console? i thought he stopped because he got a life or something.
