FaN is here to stay. It is a side grade that has both advantages and disadvantages. It requires a change in play style to maximize effectiveness and requires a change in play style to defend against / defeat.

Players and teams are adjusting very well to Fan scouts. It is still looked down upon by some players. But there is no way that the Fan is going to be banned from the leagues.

The FaN IMO is only advantageous on badlands. It's really good for spire, for getting a quick cap on last (pushing enemies off) and blocking soldier jumps at mid.
On all other maps it's only useful for 1v1's vs other scouts. I think it's a really annoying weapon that still needs to be tweaked some, but is definitely here to stay. I think the advantage on badlands of having 1 FaN scout is pretty big though.

I used to despise the FaN as much as I despise seeing skillless pyros showering flames in 360 degree circles. But now, I will admit, the FaN is pretty well-balanced in terms of damage and knock-back. I even use it when I ring as scout or pug as scout. It proves to be quite useful at times.
