Some of you know me.
All of you hate me.
I think I'll do just fine.
(riight?)
I'll be gaming by tomorrow night. To say I'm excited would be an understatement.
Always, always looking for people to game with. Add me on Steam and I'll teach you how us 360 players play... lol
t1n_man
Been playing 360 since release, got really bored due to no competition in a health kit ridden world. Decided I'd buy a PC and play with the big boys.
Had been debating it for a long time... Then I heard about Frustian's.
Now I'm here. Be gentle.
EDIT: I will not be handicapping myself with knobs. Just to be clear, I'm a kb/m guy, and always have been.

Agreed, although you may just wait till both are out and the community decides which is better for comp. I have a sickening feeling L4D2 will have shit comp play due to... "Director 2.0"

I already purchased it, and one month on PC for $30 [the price when I bought it] is gonna be well worth it. Get to watch demos too.

lol, demos of the past week maybe. so the best you'll get to see are a few boring matches from tournaments using old competitive configs.

If the A51 vVv match isn't cast, that's one I definitely need to watch.
If you hadn't realized, I'm pretty much head over heels in love with just the concept of Frusties. Can't wait to see it//play it.

kral, is it just kraljevo8? It says that there is a problem adding you to my friends list.

Welcome.

Congratulations.

Why did you go to the 360 then in the first place?...$50/year, higher priced games, lack of customization, etc...
I came from the 360 about 3 years ago and am just curious.

My PC became obsolete when I was about 16, and I didn't have the money to keep it up to date. My parents bought me a laptop when I was ~17, I could play Counterstrike but nothing more on it. I bought a new laptop which had promised me gaming at 19, but I couldn't even CS on it.
After I turned 20, I heard of a sequel to a RPG series (Tales of... Vesperia) would be coming to the Xbox. I loved the Gamecube game, so I bought an Xbox for all the upcoming RPGs. I got L4D when I was bored shortly after release, and played since.
Student loans allowed me to get a PC now, so I'm finally home.

Alienware is doing a L4D2 tournament. Newegg already confirmed L4D2 will be in the next Summer WANfest and CEVO is setting up a L4D2 tournament in Feb 2010.
Like it or not, the comp community will go there, anyone staying behind will just be a diehard. It's not going to be a peaceful CS\CSS split, believe me -- community is too small.
should have waited for l4d2 imo

The way my computer is not starting, I may have to. This is driving me CRAZY. It just won't post.
Get a new PSU, they're like 50 bucks for a good one.

I bought a $80 PSU. I'm having the PC looked at tomorrow. I ordered everything off newegg.

It's always the PSU's fault, amirite?
Try jumping the PSU with a paperclip to see if that's the problem. Also, money is nothing. You could spend $80 on an Antec pos one, rather than spending $40 on a nice OCZ one. Note, I don't have an OCZ psu, but they are cookies.

I am an idiot. There's a 6 prong MB connector, and I'm used to seeing a 4. I just missed it every time I went in.
I'm up and running now. Aside from my headset not working in L4D it's all good to go =]
Haha, I tried to help you out last night, hope everything is good to go.

So far so good. I just participated in my first Frustian's mod scrim. Can't help but feel that it was due to my suckiness with controls we died a couple times, but oh well.
Having some issues with items, I'll press 4 to take out my grenade, because thats what it always was in CS. I also used to have right click = jump.
I think I'll have the controls down within a couple days though, then it's time to step it up.

Moosey, glad to see you made the jump. I know I played with you on the 360. What team were you on? Myself and zeromajin have been having some fun on the PC, we'll have to get together because I think we all have relatively similar playing times.

I played a lot of different teams. Generally TooManyCha1rs and I would stick together though.
My play times are afternoon-4am usually ;). Being a college kid rocks.
what school do you go to in minnesota?

When I quote you, I can make it look like you're talking to me. So that's what I'm doing.
Creep.

Playing FPS on both, it's pretty clear which is better (PC, obviously). But what I never understood is why people play RTS games on the 360. That would make me kill myself.

Speaking of transitioning from 360 to PC, can anyone recommend some good gaming headsets for PC? I used TurtleBeach Earforce X4s on the 360 but haven't had luck using them with my PC.
MooseyPants

X4's are terrible with the PC. I believe they're compatible, but completely terrible for PC.
I'm using X1's, but think I'm going to buy a new headset.

a good set of stereo headphones and a standalone mic > headset
a good set of stereo headphones and a standalone mic > headset
I would agree with you if Creative, Steelseries, and Sennheiser didn't exist.
The difference between the nice headphones and a headset from either of those brands isn't very big. Steelseries is the best gaming audio, Sennheiser is the best music audio, and Creative is the best general purpose audio. Not just posting opinions, there's tests over on Rodney Reynold's websites about the frequencies they pick up, etc. In some tests, the Sennheiser headsets actually performed the more expensive headphones.
I think it's also nice to have the mic close by at all times, cause I move a bit at my PC, and a standalone would sometimes be too loud or quiet based on how I move, but that's just an opinion.

ehh stand alone mics are usually fine no matter where you are. I used to have one but had to get rid of it because people always heard conversations going on behind me etc.

My steelseries 5Hv2 headset is good only for games. Sound effects are distinct, accurate and sound crystal clear. But music has some bad static because the headphones are made to emphasize different sound effects, not produce high quality audio in a pure form. I have a good pair of Sony cans that sound so much better for music, and I might get a new soundcard soon so they sound even better, but for games, it's just different.
I absolutely hated playing with a standalone mic and headphones. If it was too far away, it would be too quiet or pick up every noise in the room. Clipping it to my shirt is annoying and inconsistent, and again my voice was lower volume than my shirt rustling or a fan in the room.
Get a dedicated (comfortable) headset for games, and headphones for everything else.
Same^. They're good for games, if you're an audiophile you'll puke. Really durable; I beat the shit out of them and they're good as new. Just ebay it so you don't have to pay a ridiculous amount.
