Was it illegal in CAL to change your glow colors? I have item glow as green, different colors for ghosts and spawned infected, etc.

I know its largely irrelevant presently, but I'm guessing CEVO's rules will be somewhat like CAL's were.

It was never explicitly declared illegal in the ruleset. I asked several admins and they either weren't sure or said it's probably illegal when the preseason started. But after a while it was just assumed to be legal, and was.

Since CAL is basically dead and rotting I would recommend we all wait for CEVO's (hopefully) soon-to-come L4D league to come out and let them state the new set of standard rules.

I'd think glow colors are along the lines of custom HUDs; as long as specific parts of the HUD were visible onscreen at all times, HUDs in various games were allowed to be customized. I see no reason why the glow colors would be handled any different.

I have mine set to bright green and they are much easier to see. That's why I was wondering. I guess we'll just have to wait to see what CEVO says.

the reason we never made it officially illegal in cal is because we debated between it ourselves.

The obvious question was, is there a clear advantage for player over another with different glow colors? We could never really decide. And with there really only being 3 weeks of play before the league died, the issue was never an issue.


My 2 cents. glowing outlines are already there for players to see items, so its not like its showing them things they are not suppose to see. For that matter, I was fine with them changing.
