So gentlemen, I need your help. I am building myself a new computer and while, I have done the actual building before, I have never selected a parts list or anything like that, and if I had, I wouldnt have kept recent with all the new shinies that we have now. I have copy pasted the guide from the teamliquid so as to make sure all the info is here.

What is your budget?
800 even. Cant go over, shipping not included

What is your resolution?
I dont have a steady res and wont be getting a new monitor for a while (a month and a half at least) so I guess we can choose that here :)

What are you using it for?

Obviously tf2, but also sc2, some other shooters, video encoding and editing, possibly streaming and definitely photoshop/after effects work.

What is your upgrade cycle?
This is my first personal build, so I dont have one, I think I would like to have support for SLI/xfire but only put one gpu on the original build, to be upgraded as I get the cash.

When do you plan on building it?
Next week, I want to get started now with the choosing because I want to have something ready to go as soon as I get the go ahead for purchase.

Do you plan on overclocking?
maybe... if I need to I guess... I can always buy another cooler or heat sink if I need to.

Do you need an Operating System?
Nope it is ummm... free at... work, yeah, work gives it for free :)

Do you plan to add a second GPU for SLI or Crossfire?
see above.

Where are you buying your parts from?
newegg. Needs to be all from the same place.

800, hrm. That's kinda tight.

I'll sell you 2 9800GT each has a gig of ram for 50. (both for 50)

Tom's Hardware's June 2011 $500 Gaming build (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/diy-gaming-pc,2970.html)

With that in mind, you're left with ~$300 to upgrade. I'd go for a quad core processor and at least an ATX sized motherboard.

I would upgrade your power supply TBH if u used that build. It seems like its the cheapest part of that...which could be bad. For about $100 more you could get an unlocked Core I5 like I have.

I prefer this build over the intel counterparts because it seems pretty durable. It has the new chipset am3+ which supports crossfire and sli. Also because the processor is unlocked (like the i5 2500k), you can overclock it alot and is a quad core which should suit the need of all the things you listed above. It uses the Antec 902 case for airflow and a modular power supply to get rid of the cable messes. The list uses a GTS 450 because going for a GTX 460 or GTX 560TI/6850-6870 would be out of budget (including shipping). It also uses A-DATA DDR3 1600 mhz ram speed to get a few more frames out of games.

If you don't need Windows 7 or the super fancy case, you can get a cheap-o case and a 6870. All up to you.
