So I was thinking about ways to get exposure for our pug but, since I think it is a great too and just needs to catch on before it becomes very popular. Many teams/companies do "play with the pros" nights where the top players will pug for a specific time and players can get in games with them. We could do something similar with the pug bot, have players from top teams being captains and leading pugs. For example every sat afternoon we could have sign ups for players from top teams where they play for a certain amount of time leading pugs vs each other.
This has a number of benefits:
1) It brings exposure to comml4d/pug bot and allows players who are sick of pubbing to have a great alternative for a more competitive environment.
2) It gives good players without a team exposure so they can have an easier time finding a team.
3) By playing with top players, hopefully the people that are pugging will get better, thus improving the overall quality of competition present in L4D.
4) Most importantly it will show we aren't elitist, and are dedicated to improving the quality of community L4D has.
Some things to consider adding to the pug bot:
1) Reputation system/banlist. Similar to dota TDA/list checkers, so players can't ruin games on a consistent game.
2) Some sort of stat system (similar to how esea works).
Pug Bot is a great tool that has a ton of potential, just look at what esea has done with their pugging system. We need to look at their model and try to emulate the things they did right, and improve on whatever they might have done wrong.
