View Full Version : Krits Targetting Order

Working with my Medic Sword, it came up that I may become tunnel visioned every now and again when I take a kritz. I'm not perfect and always appreciate input of better players so I'd like to ask you order of operations for when you're under the gun.
Main class = :bomb:
I'm guilty of medic hunting no matter what but it seems like it's getting my medic killed if we aren't escorted by the pocket or scouts. I feel like if they have the uber, this is the right move to try and steal one before he can pop. Swordfish feels like I should cut my toes off for getting him popped; rightfully. Cuz if we lose our med, their drop is worthless; right?
So would it be advantageous to go after the heavies surrounding the med first when we have kritz up (especially if the other team is not full uber yet)? Of course, none of us ever miss a shot, but on the off chance that does happen and they have some time to react the first shot is the most crucial to do the most damage.
Your thoughts?

demo is definitely my preferred class when i kritz and i tell my mentees to go with that. especially when going into smaller rooms like the badlands last point.
i watched a twl game where an amazing kritz play happened: they pushed in with their kritz onto last point when the opposing side had no uber and the demo planted krit stickies and evenly distributed them along the bottom floor around the point. then the scouts ran onto the point and capped it uncontested because the other side didn't want to risk dying to all those krit stickies.

My god. That krit sticky boundary is brilliant.

that's exactly what i said after the match to the team on mumble — their demo just told me that it was an accident that it happened. they said they'll try to do it on purpose from now on though.

Just make sure the medic uses the kritz wisely, as in at the right time and when the enemy is not expecting it, then all you have to do is snipe a crit sticky when their medic is not looking and there's no chance at all of him using that uber to counter your kritz. the rest can easily wiped up then. An easy counter to a kritz which you should avoid is just to jump the kritz combo. This is why an element of surprise is the way to go, if they do try to jump you they'll probably lose if your entire team is up and their medic is down.

The only thing I would suggest when using the krits, is concentrate on the heavy classes as opposed to the medic, if we destroy the means they can wage war, the scouts can pursue the wipe the medic out.

I don't think there's a hard and fast rule for where you should aim the first sticky. It's very situational.
If the enemy medic has uber or is about to get uber and you want to fight, the sticky should probably go at the medic, but if it's an unlikely shot and another target presents itself, you'll want to switch. It's better overall to opt to take a 90% chance of fighting with a pick or 200hp advantage than a 40% chance of forcing a drop.
If the enemy medic is not near charge, then the sticky can go where-ever (even if you let the enemy medic escape, the 2-3 picks you should generate from the kritz will mean you can just run him down before he has charge).
If the enemy has charge and you don't want to fight, you just want to force a pop and take your charge advantage, it really doesn't matter where you shoot. Though, it would be intelligent to shoot someone far from the medic first so you have a chance of a pick (pop force should be easy anyways)... unless you have the element of surprise on the kritz, in which case you can try to make him drop.
