you have an excellent blog that has been with us since like day 1. you aren't trying to make it "The premiere competitive l4d site" you are just providing informative, and intelligent responses to w/e is happening in the community.

The only thing that sets this and other more popular L4D sites apart is the competitive insight side of things, which is pretty minimal. All the power to any community site that springs up to provide its own perspective and content for the game.

Why would you make another community site after one has been started since the beginning of the game? Are you trying to kill this game? FUCKING CHRIST

I don't see why it's a problem. I think it's cool. The admins are good people, they post videos of cool scrims and L4D related videos. I know this forum does it too, but it's a forum and it can only be so organized and usually is only links to videos.

the only thing i see l4dnao doing right is providing multiple pieces of information that are easily accessbile to scrubs that would allow them to get better.
things comml4d could do:
link/host craptor's blog
have a weekly demo easily available
make the front page/forums more easily accessed between the 2
introduce a "for newbies" section on front page AND forums...though i suppose thats why graham's been recruiting writers

TBH demos should only be made out to admins for hack testing. How can you honestly expect to keep your own original strats by promoting your teams game play. Granted strats will eventually get out but why promote them as quick as possible?
Left 4 dead is like a game of football. There is a defence and offence and it's illegal to watch other teams training in the NFL. "AKA PATRIOTS" so why do it in a game so related to general styles?

They do have a link, and if it weren't for the fact I'm contracted by gameriot I would already be writing at comml4d.
Because everyone in this community already knows pretty much everything. We all know/use pretty much the same tank defense spots, what routes to take, where to drop down on boxes. I mean really, as multiple people have stated before, it's about execution and reaction. Seriously, what new ultimate strat does some team have that we don't already know about. And through a scrimm if it is a good strat, other teams will copy it. Exactly like football, it's a copycat league. Letting everyone watch demos promotes interest in the game for new players, plus we all like to watch them anyway. It's another website trying to promote the game, don't get so butthurt over it.

It all comes down to the ability to execute a strat.

A) They're fun to watch.
B) You can sometimes get an idea of what the current successful play style is like.
C) It's not like people watch the whole thing. demoui ftw.

It's not successful if everyone knows about it lol .
But yeah i guess execution has everything to do about it. Even so, originality i guess isn't something that can be kept. :frown:
lolz did anyone else watch that ESL match above Area 51 and Hausen... good god they play wierd (and bad).

Omerta, you understand that with one of the most successful and highly competitive games (CS), the top teams' strats are constantly scrutinized by GotFrag and the like? As others have already noted, it's more about reaction, execution, and adapting on the fly that makes someone/a team good in the game they play, not necessarily the strats.

has anyone here read Ender's Game by OSC? Near the end of it, the book puts forth an astounding philosophy: anyone can watch and study the best of the best do what they do, but the best players are the best becuase they're the only ones who can execute.
It can be summed up like this: would you rather win because you knew something the other team didnt, or because you could do it better than they could?
PS. FOR MUNKY: its "defense" and "offense." GTFO with your damned Queen's English.
