Unfortunately we do not have any highlander mentors. If someone is nice enough to mentor you that's cool, but I am sorry to report that you may wait a long time to find someone (if anyone at all) for highlander.
Best wishes,
Slin

Any general tips to help improve my game as pyro would be appreciated, highlander tactics not required... Most of the pyros I play against these days are either on par with me or worse than me... I need someone better than me to help refine my pyro tactics...

A big part of pyro in highlander is playing with your team. Get a buff from your medic at the appropriate times and don't squander it. Try to maintain your health, rather than being overly aggressive and losing too much. If you hold your buffs, then you'll put less pressure on your medic, who wants to heal other key targets such as your heavy or demoman.
Play smart. You're a key part of damage reduction for your team, meaning that you will leave your players with more health than theirs (health advantage is key). Also, by staying with your medic combo you will reduce their chances of dying to a spy.
Lastly, try to stay in close quarters. That is where pyros excel. Open areas are particularly bad for pyros due to their weakness against hitscan damage (scouts, snipers, engineers, heavies).
I hope this helped, however I have no pyro highlander experience. A great way to refine your own play is to watch demos of yourself playing. Please see my guide here: http://commforums.com/new-competitive-tf2i-heres-t5759.html?t=5759 (second post), for instructions on how to record your own gameplay.
