The only legit place to post some looking for threads for TF2 these days are on the gotfrag forums. And that place is turning into a giant pool of trolls. Each recruitment reply will be followed by 2 troll posts.

I think we need to take this opportunity to develop a recruiting section on communityfortress.

Something similar to this:
http://www.fortressgamers.com/?p=freeagents&division=2&tid=6
except when you click on the names, it gives you detail of:

Name
Age
Main Class
Secondary Class
League Experience
Previous Teams
Availability

The whole point is that people who are looking for teams WANT a new place to post their LF queries, Gotfrag is no longer the place to do it.

I also want the opportunity to steer away from the whole skill level rating of each player. Mid level teams will purposely avoid talking to low/mid players because they think they are mid and shouldnt have a low/mid guy on the team. It's becoming really stupid.

This will gain a lot of traffic on the site, AND if you require each person to Sign up for a profile to post their LF query, there will be a lot more members on the site as well.

Maybe add another section for Teams LF as well.

I also think that the "skill rating" thing is pretty dumb. One other problem with having people describe themselves as "mid/low" or whatever is that people tend to use it as a substitute for things that can actually be measured objectively. It's much more important to list any league experience you have (even if it's for games other than TF2!), yet it seems like many people neglect to mention things of this nature when describing themselves.

We do have the competitive recruitment section of the forums which the community can use as a troll-free recruitment environment. As for a system like the one you described, I would have to talk to Ben about doing something like that.

My idea was to hopefully steer away from the "forum" format. I don't think our forums will convince anyone to stop posting their LFs on gotfrag. But I bet a shiny new recruitment page will...

That is true. Duly noted. I will keep you posted on this.

my experience on gotfrag with the tf2 community wasnt bad, compared to cs or css the trolls are very minimal.

Good idea.

What about a section on communityfortress.com that is backed by the wiki? We could have a listing of players, maybe sorted by primary class or something. Each one would link to their wiki page, which they could pimp out with league / team history and whatever else.

We could probably do a simple submittal form as well to get your name up there (mod approved of course).

Everything is relative...

Hey dmon, yea, your recruitment thread worked out very well.
But just looking at the forum right now...more than 50% of the posts in there are trolls arguing about the player's skill class, or some sort of stupid drama.
