We would like to get a score ticker going on the front page but the scores would have to be manually inserted. What do you guys think of some sort of system like that?

Admittedly I'm a bit in the dark when it comes to web programming languages and what not. A score ticker would be awesome, the simplest way that I can imagine is to use an RSS feed coming from the leagues themselves. I dunno if ESEA, TWL, or other leagues would be willing to throw something together that then could be automated, but that would be the easiest way to get up-to-date scores out there.

I'm positive that at least TWL would be more than willing to support this, but I'm not exactly sure who could make it automated.
As mentioned above, RSS would be a simple way to get this data. We could aggregate RSS feeds from each league and then display them together sorted by date, so we can show the latest scores across all leagues. Each score could link to the respective match page on its source league, which would be nice.
To do this, we'd just need the leagues to auto-gen these RSS feeds of the most recent (maybe 20?) matches. These would preferrably have some basic sorting support so we could get TF2 matches in a separate feed from other games.
In the long-term, it'd be awesome if leagues could agree on a standardized REST API for all match data. That would let us build a dynamic, team-centric league dashboard, where you could choose the teams to view and it'd show a historic view of scores, maps, opponents, roster etc across all leagues. We could then take this data and do all kinds of cool stuff with it, like if Team A was playing Team B tonight, we could show an analysis of the two team's past matches, focusing on tonight's map and roster diffferences. It'd be a pain to get the leagues to agree on a standard, but I think it'd be a big benefit benefit to the users as well as the leagues themselves, who'd basically be getting free advertising for their backlog of match data.

I think it's a good idea...have you considered posting the standings for each league somewhere on the sidebar as well?
