So when i play l4d2 (havent tested l4d1) i only recieve about half the infected/CI noises. and its completely random, so when i do hear them its not a reliable indicator. this also includes sounds like gunshots, loud thuds, tank music etc.


problem started this past week, i have done nothing to the best of my knowledge that would cause my sound to fuck up.


im currently using plantronics pain-behind-the-ear wraparound headphones that use a driver im assuming is named "c-media usb audio driver."

tried updating this to no avail, also tried removing and reinstalling the game cache of L4D2 (have not tried removing AND deleting the l4d2 folder though yet)


nothing is working, halp :(

get new headphones

I use the same headphones, and the only sound I have a hard time hearing is the boomer. But it isn't all the time

i fixed it. turns out the usb slot on the front of my pc is going bad. guess im stuck with 4 other slots :-\

spend $100 on sennheiser 555's with your tax money and you will cream in your undies with enjoyment. Plus it will bug the SHIT out of your wife since you cant hear anything further than 3 feet away.
