Many might already know this start up shortcut already, but in case anyone doesn't, if you right click on the Left 4 Dead shortcut in your steam game menu, click on 'Properties', then click on 'Set Launch Options', in the field, just add -novid . You should now skip the opening movie and the Valve head guy =]

Well my question is, do you go out of your way to perceive yourself as an ass to people? The OP was trying to be helpful to people who didn't know the information. If people already knew it well sweet for them, otherwise I'm sure there's bound to be quite a few people who will appreciate this information.
