I recently rented a server with Midnight Gaming. As a side note, WAY THE F better than Game Servers so far. I uploaded my configs -- I like my normal server.cfg to have the same Tank and Witch ratios as CAL rules -- and tried to play but L4D wouldn't connect to the server. I assumed (correctly) that the version of the game on the server was an older one so I ran the Steam Update viaTCA. After updating I connected and loaded in.

Here's where I get confused. The server was on Death Toll and set to 8 player Versus. My first thought was, "Okay, server's set to the wrong map, HLSW will fix that." I ran through some of the map just to wait and see what my ping leveled out to and noticed something. Infected climb ladders.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but those are only present on VS maps. Is this Midnight Gaming assuming I'd like modded VS maps in anticipation of the DLC to come? Maybe Steam already had the new VS maps ready and my server automatically downloaded them with the update? I asked around and it seems that quite a few of my friends have played in Quick Matches on Death Toll and Dead Air VS maps yesterday and today, so it's not an isolated incident. Can any server admins or those in the know with Valve shed some light on this?
