I cant stress enough on how much of an amazing game The Suffering is. It's just one of those games where the story line is perfect, it's the only game i've ever played that actually scared me.

I'm really surprised no one has mentioned fallout (Original). So I just did. ;) -- Definitely an all around multi-genre smash that has really never outlived it's grace. I still play it to this day about once a year. Best future/sci-fi RPG ever.

Besides that, King's Quest was a pretty big deal back in the day. I never played the really really early versions but I remember King's Quest V was one of the first adventure games I ever played. One of the first games I ever played for that matter too.

Another gem, Crusader: No Remorse. That was a blast, very innovative and fun/challenging to play. It will probably be remade one into a modern game one of these days.

Neverwinter Nights (Original) was the best fantasy RPG I've ever played.

Dues Ex(Original, again) was probably the best FPS-RPG.

I think we can all agree that quake is probably the old fps king, unless one argues doom.
