$180 (one-time) for an \'owned\' license. You can run this on 1 domain for as long as you want.
$40 a year for continued support and vB updates, goes up to $60 if you\'re late.

Yeah I have yet to make a news post about this because I didn\'t want to overshadow the update but we are now taking donations for vBulletin. As much as Fireboard is easy to use and transform to our needs, the site is growing so quickly that we think we need a more professional forums system.
We will keep the donate link up for a month or so and then see how far we\'ve gotten. If you like all we\'ve done and want to see CommL4D stay the home for competitive Left 4 Dead, please donate a few bucks.
I\'ll throw in a few bucks when I get paid.
wow thats exspensive as hell. rawr

just curious how the transition to vb will work with fireboard, will you be able to transfer usernames and posts like phpbb?

Unfortunately there isn\'t a decent import/export utility for Fireboard -> vBulletin. My current plan is to go Fireboard -> phpBB2 -> vBulletin using this script (http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=588149) but I\'m not sure how well it will work.
If someone in the community is good at PHP/SQL they could write a script to do it, I just don\'t have the SQL background.

I slaughtered some sql when doing my site... I am not proskee by n e means... And we run vbulletin... I don\'t think it\'d be an easy transition at all... unless perhaps u basically carry over ur files from the current whatever style forum we have... and insert them in vbulletin by doing it the totally noob way... ready...?
copy paste... There should be dedicated files for users and passwords, topics, etc... all saved in the location of wherever the forum is installed... u would have to backup those files... remove this forum... install vbulletin... and then either attempt a copy paste over... or just rename your folders pending the acceptable php code... if it wouldn\'t work right off the bat... does that make sense? Sorry I am on like 14 benadryl get at me later?

Transferring the files (attached images, sigs, avatars) should be relatively simple. The issue is going to be transitioning from the Fireboard SQL schema to whatever vBulletin uses, which will be simple as long as basic structure is the same (similar primary keys, table organization etc) but could bloat quickly. Especially if vBulletin uses a very different table structure, that could get ugly.
I just looked and this host lets me whitelist external SQL clients, so at least the translation script can be in any language.
Worst case we\'ll just copy-paste the biggest posts but that\'s non-ideal.

Well you could copy all the images etc ever and make it look the exact same or you could find some bomb vbulletin skins and then edit them with l4d font and images... to make it look out of this world... But that\'s just my two cents on the whole overall look... I\'ll see if I can\'t dig up some ideas... Remember i\'m on my benadryl run still so gimme a break lol.

Ohhh damn if I wasn\'t drugged I know I am bored enough... Take this skin:
http://www.forumshelp.com/cairog.gif
and load in the black back ground and images and it would look tight...
And as opposed to writing myself 10 million new posts I\'ll just make one long post of different things... I currently use an \"Ambience\" skin on my vbulletin. I think it looks sweet but I don\'t know if the image transition and color change would be easy... Blue/Silver/White to Green/Black/Red...
http://extremepixels.com/screens/ambience_hov.jpg
Then there\'s this green one that\'s pretty cool a little too green but definitely easier to work off than the other 3 of you want just a green/black (gunmetal whatever color you wanna call it) forum...
http://vbskins.com/forums/index.php?styleid=162
Then transverse puts out this lil bad boy... kinda nice... easy to work off of and similar to our current forum in some aspects...
http://www.transversestyles.com/vB/?styleid=246
Drug rants for the win... Benadryl baby! Just use it don\'t abuse it!

Best looking one imo. Clean and organized. Gets the job done.
cal forum skin is amazing. so clean and simple.
We can definitely skin it however you guys want, that part is simple.
What will be tough is transferring all the old posts/topics.

^^ Mhmm but that really depends on how it\'s saved and such I know nothing of this forum style at all so I am sooo outta the loop on assisting... Maybe later on my epic rage of benadryl I\'ll research it.

If we had 110 of the registered users donate $2 each ($1.64 after paypal fees), that would get us to our mark of $180.
Now if we wanted an extra year of support and updates right away, we would need 135 of the registered users to reach the mark of $220.
So lets get some donations in, because as of right now I am the only person that has donated, and it makes me sad in the pants. =(

Hey what\'s our update status on this?
Is there any way to put info below the donation button or somewhere else with the current goal and how far we are?

There is a joomla plugin for that. (I think)
Also, the $40/$60 is only if your current year of support is close to expiring, or has expired, respectively.
