Playing FPS on both, it's pretty clear which is better (PC, obviously). But what I never understood is why people play RTS games on the 360. That would make me kill myself.

Speaking of transitioning from 360 to PC, can anyone recommend some good gaming headsets for PC? I used TurtleBeach Earforce X4s on the 360 but haven't had luck using them with my PC.

X4's are terrible with the PC. I believe they're compatible, but completely terrible for PC.

I'm using X1's, but think I'm going to buy a new headset.

I would agree with you if Creative, Steelseries, and Sennheiser didn't exist.

The difference between the nice headphones and a headset from either of those brands isn't very big. Steelseries is the best gaming audio, Sennheiser is the best music audio, and Creative is the best general purpose audio. Not just posting opinions, there's tests over on Rodney Reynold's websites about the frequencies they pick up, etc. In some tests, the Sennheiser headsets actually performed the more expensive headphones.

I think it's also nice to have the mic close by at all times, cause I move a bit at my PC, and a standalone would sometimes be too loud or quiet based on how I move, but that's just an opinion.

ehh stand alone mics are usually fine no matter where you are. I used to have one but had to get rid of it because people always heard conversations going on behind me etc.

My steelseries 5Hv2 headset is good only for games. Sound effects are distinct, accurate and sound crystal clear. But music has some bad static because the headphones are made to emphasize different sound effects, not produce high quality audio in a pure form. I have a good pair of Sony cans that sound so much better for music, and I might get a new soundcard soon so they sound even better, but for games, it's just different.

I absolutely hated playing with a standalone mic and headphones. If it was too far away, it would be too quiet or pick up every noise in the room. Clipping it to my shirt is annoying and inconsistent, and again my voice was lower volume than my shirt rustling or a fan in the room.

Get a dedicated (comfortable) headset for games, and headphones for everything else.

Same^. They're good for games, if you're an audiophile you'll puke. Really durable; I beat the shit out of them and they're good as new. Just ebay it so you don't have to pay a ridiculous amount.
