If you want to convince yourself that playing ammomod regularly will make you aim better, go right ahead, but it's just not true.
If you want to improve at competitive tf2 your time is best spent by scrimming as a team or pugging. |

What do you expect me to tell you?
All I'm saying is that its foolish to spend so much time in ammomod, as so many people do, with the expectation that it's going to make you good at this game. It'll make you good at ammomod. Aside from that, it's a tool to warm-up your aim, not improve it. If you don't want to believe me it's fine, in the end it's my opinion, and I'm not forcing it on you. |

I kinda agree with what jigga says. Ammomod/DM servers will help your raw aiming skill, but at some point that will plateau and then it's all about real match experience. So, in terms of actual aim, yes, Ammomod/DM will help you out. When it comes to actual match play, it won't do a damn thing except give you more suicidal tendencies when you're stuck in DM mode during a match. In Ammomod you completely forget about health and ammo conservation, which leads to more stupid deaths on your part. It's all about a balance between improving aim via Ammomod, and getting yourself to that veteran status via matches and scrims.

Best way to get better is just to get a team together and play teams as good or better than yours. All the Ammomod and DM in the world can't teach you to be a good teammate or to make smart decisions at the right moments.
Pugs are all right too, but you'll just never get the same type of communication experience from a pug as you will from a scrim with people you know as your teammates. |

Ammomod makes it so that in matches, you can focus entirely on positioning and health/ammo management, as you don't have to worry about aiming/movement.

I agree that to get better at competetive tf2 your time is best spent actually playing with a team and pugging/mercing since the game is about so much more than just aim. However when it comes to aim, all practice of aim should make you aim better, right ? And you are doing a lot of that in ammomod/dm. |

DM yes, ammomod - to some certain extent. Both of these may cause you to fall into inappropriate habits. On the other hand though, as it was said earlier, once you put enough time into aim practice on ammomod, you won't have to worry about it, only about your position and status.

I say this because there are so many people that spend so much unnecessary time in ammomod as if it were going to make them better. I think it's a huge misconception that the more hours you spend the better your aim gets. As for the logic, there is none, it's just anecdotal evidence. |

Oh, and there's an error in my sources. It wasn't from PtW, was from here: http://www.gotfrag.com/tf2/forums/thread/400299/ , Seagull's post, #28. |

I really have to order that "playing to win" book :-)
Sounds like awesome reading at the beach.. Quote:
If you are an experienced player you don't have much more to learn about aim and the dm/ammomod will just be good as a warmup for your aim. If you are a newer player however I think it will be more useful. |
