I still contest that it's a good thing to get stomped on every now and again, whether it's due to invite ringers offclassing, or just playing a flat better team. You should never go into a scrim expecting to win, first of all. Once you get that down pat, it's much easier to play with humility, and you'll find that you notice things more often that you can improve for yourself or your team. Scrims are for practice, learning, developing strats, and growing as a team. If you go into a scrim specifically looking to match yourself up against another team, then you've already got yourself at a disadvantage IMO.

I've had the opportunity to scrim invite teams, teams with invite ringers, EU div1/2 teams, offclass/PUG teams.. basically, a whole bunch of teams I can't hang with. In every case, even if I have a feeling that we might lose, I still play like I normally would, and afterwards appreciate the experience. It's tough to be a sore loser with that kind of attitude, and overall I feel it would help out anyone looking to really improve to adopt the attitude.

SO, that being said - to the topic on-hand, I do not mind invite ringers, whether they're on or off-classing. So long as I'm not trying to gauge myself or my team based on how we do (and vice-versa, so long as the other team doesn't either), I roll with it, and file the scrim under "good experience." If you don't play against the good players, how are you going to learn how to play like them?

skill levels have eroded so much in tf2 that it's ridiculous, getting 5-0'd doesnt even mean the other team is leagues better than you anyways

I'm mostly talking about esea (with the exception of like 3 joke teams in it)

the worst player on a mid/high team in esea-im is not any better than the best player on a decent open team really

i'm pretty sure thats just how the world works. it may even be worse. for example, the best college quarterback might be better than the worst NFL quarterback.

but even if what you said were true, i don't understand how the best open players being of equal level as the worst IM players means skill levels have eroded. makes no sense. skill levels are constantly going up because people are constantly playing.

I meant the skill gap is eroding, not overall skill levels
