Glad it's working.

As an aside, I warm up with airshot and rocket shooting training maps before I DM, and I've noticed that's really amped up my game.

If you're using MGE as a practice mod you're wasting your time even more. MGE is a fun thing to do and try hard/improbable shots that you probably wouldn't get in a real game situation.

We should put everybody with a different opinion on MGE in a podcast and have them fight each others' opinions to the death

This is false. The MGE 1v1 training mod, especially when couple with other methods of practice, may enhance combat skills. I, for one, have seen drastic results, and so have most of the regulars I spar with; these results have bled over into matches and scrims.

1v1 "sparring" is a vital part of the game and if you think you're better off without practicing it you're sorely mistaken. MGE is THE best way to quickly improve your aim against a real opponent. The only thing that lessens its effect is that some douches are focused on winning rather than improving. Remember why you're in there and you'll be seeing results.

If you think MGE is not going to help, Breloom, than pray tell what is a better way to practice airshots/dodging/conservation/and specific map awareness?

Very true, ymmud.

Hence why MGEmod competitions, or claiming that you're "better than someone because you beat them on MGEmod" is utterly inane.

It kinda makes this topic of conversation irrelevant though...

EDIT: Whoops, didn't see the last page. Oh well.

Lol, well, I'm mostly playing MGE to, as it's been said, up my game, I haven't really played for a month, between other hobbies/not failing my midterms. So MGE is nice for me because I can hop in, and know that if I suddenly have to make dinner, there's no chance of me having to stay for another 20 minutes. Not to mention that most of my games could use some work, to keep the conversation moving away from flamewars, I'm going to raise this question:

As a Demo 1v1ng a scout, is it worth attempting to "play around" a sticky in the hopes of getting it off on him, or is worth just to roll with pipes/sticky spam?

Airshots aren't exactly something you should be practicing, since high percentage shots when they land are better and if you're trying to deny height, a shotgun is more reliable. How does MGE help ammo conservation if you get all your rockets back after you kill someone. It still creates the trap that DM and ammomod did that you can expend all your ammo trying to kill one person. And i'd say the best way to work on dodging, awareness, etc. is to actually play in pugs/scrims against people who don't just +forward. I mean sure, MGE may help your aim and warming up (which DM can pubbing can both work for), but it does shit for concepts like target selection, holding ground, failing back, etc.

Anyways, for demo 1v1 scout, it's best to put a sticky to their left or right, then switch to pipes as that sticky will constrict their movement in the opposite direction and if they happen to go over it, you can blow then up,

Rocket jump at them, strafe directly at them and shoot at the very end of the jump to make sure you hit them directly and do maximum damage (100 or more...). Switch to shotgun and win.
