Hi there TF2 community,
I am Bob Weaver, I am an avid gamer and lover of all things eSport. I am also the owner of www.LANchamp.com, which I launched back in April to put a few new philosophies behind the idea of competitive gaming. We’re just finishing up our third consecutive event for Counter-Strike: Source, and we’ve been pretty pleased with the response received. Here’s why (I hope) you guys care: I believe the philosophies behind LANchamp can apply to any community, and I absolutely love TF2. Everything about it. So, we’ve just announced our fourth tournament to promote this great game, and I’d like to invite you all to participate – or at least come be a part of what we’re trying to do. Here’s the skinny: The tournament is free to enter, and registration is open for the next week for any team of six, at any skill level. We’ll take the best 16 teams we can get and put you all in a bracket, where you’ll fight amongst yourselves through two rounds of online qualifiers. If you lose, no worries – the only thing you’ve spent is a good time competing and a couple hours sitting around at home in your underwear (I know you do). But if you win, and become one of the final four teams, I’ll personally guarantee you each $1,200 to split up amongst yourselves, and the chance to play for more – all you have to do is come and pick up your checks. The final four teams are invited to a live LAN event, hosted by Yogi’s Cyber Hub outside of Los Angeles on Saturday, August 7, to compete for a total prize pot of $12,000 – including a $6,000 first prize and that $1,200 fourth place prize just for showing up and losing :) I apologize if this post gets spammy around the Interwebs, as I try to get it around all of the community sites, but we’re pretty excited to get the word out on this. We’re looking to kick out the bracket of 16 next weekend, and we’ll kick off the tournament on Monday – so there’s not much time. If you or your team is interested, please don’t hesitate to send in an application. All the information is at www.LANchamp.com, and if you use IRC, we can be found in #LANchamp on Gamesurge. I look forward to watching you all in some great competition. See you soon, Who else? Bob Weaver. |
