I'm sure this has been a debate that's been done to death, but it's been months since I've heard it mentioned, and I have a tendency to dip in and out of comp TF2 for months at a time.

So, what's been the consensus on the auto-heal option in the multiplayer settings? Takes away control? Slows you down? Would prefer a custom script?

I use it, but a friend recently started yelling at me about it for reasons that sounded like BS.

It also jitters when you take your finger off M1, and I found that even while I was using it back in my pub-only days I generally kept my finger down anyways, so I use it full-manual.
I don't use any scripts for it, I just click.

Yes, I think it does, at the very least it saves my finger because now it autoheals and I just click on new targets. Targets are acquired instantly and heals start immediately too. Really helps when trying to multiuber someone about to die.

Plus, your beam if not attached is actively looking to heal someone. Helps you build your uber a bit quicker, but that script I use mainly to keep my hand from cramping.

the downside is that if you arent healing someone, it makes an annoying throbbing sound. On the plus side, that reminds you that you arent around anyone and should prolly pull our your needlegun.

I have auto heal off and my medic config is completely empty. This probably makes me some kind of weirdo but I've never found anything I've put in there vaguely useful.

yeah, I have some of that in there, I have my needles bound to shift so all I have to hold down shift and it spams needles, one press of the mouse button and it goes right back to my medigun.

the attack command seems to apply to every weapon for me

sway just has it mixed up. the slot2 command means that it will switch whatever weapon you are currently using to your medigun.

I just hold the button and it attacks. I hold mouse4 and it will shoot.

edit; Just fyi if anyone is questioning about why I have my sensitivity "config" in there the only reason why I did it is cause I was trying out a soldier config similar to this one and had different sensitivity settings (bound to each button) and any scripter knows once you make script for one class you will have to make a counter script for the other classes. So I put sensitivity in this since the test soldier script uses same buttons as my medic.

This is true, but there are no medic weapons with right click usage other than the medi-guns, this way it switches to my gun and ubers for me all with one button.

Pretty much this. When I first made my config 6 months ago I only had +attack2 bound to mouse2 but during a scrim when I uber sawed a soldier I hit mouse2 but it did not switch me to my medigun and I dropped. So lesson learned I fixed that right away.

Tried using this for my medic config but I guess its carrying over to every class. Like when i play soldier it fires without me pressing m1.
Im pasting that in the medic.cfg file. Should it be anywhere else?

Uh... Like I said in my post above... When you make script for one class you have to make counter script for every other class. Since I used chris medic config as a reference Just paste this into your other class configs.

This should fix your problem.

use one of the scripts that you like best above, auto heal on just not through valve's shi++ty option. makes your life much easier with it on tho. if you like being able to switch specs and dont have a full med config one like sway's is great.

Hmm it seems I will have to give you my medic script for the weapons

Uh I have mine set as mouse3 for the ubersaw(click on the scroll wheel) and I have mouse4 for my needles. If ya want I can give you the weapon script for my medic.

@brute: I would use the one that mrslin posted. Mine is too complicated imo. I made it for myself. I did not plan to give it to people.

Okay, apologies for not being familiar with scripting.

What do I need to paste in my medic.cfg just so that whenever I press M2 as Medic it will switch to my Uber/Krieg and hit the charge if full?

(I realise it's not autoheal related but humour me anyway).

just be sure and hold it down, because if you click, in my experience, it sometimes doesnt also pop.
