Sorry guys, just got an updated post today. This should clear up SOME of the questions, although I know some might remain :)
Updated announcement: "Would you like a chance to test out a new gaming service geared toward competitive Team Fortress 2 players before it launches? If so then we’re looking for you and a limited number of other passionate gamers to participate in a beta test of a new service starting February 1st. This service will allow players to compete in team-based games for a nominal event fee and reward those who rank up in the ladder based on both skill and team play with a cash payout. The more players that participate, the larger the cash pool and the greater the number of payout spots. If this new service sounds interesting, then we need you to help us test. To be considered for one of 200 beta slots, all you need is some time to play every night from 9pm to 11pm CST for the month of February along with willingness to provide service feedback and participate in several focus groups. Simply visit http://surveymonkey.com/s/FPC9Y5C to apply for a beta testing position. Those who are selected to participate will get a free month when the service goes live and will get to test the payout structure which will provide an opportunity to get paid for testing." |

so basically it's like a continuous tourney ladder with a paycheck reward every so often? I'm liking the idea of this. Applied.
EDIT: It says in the servey that it is currently open for US citizens only, It's unfortunate because I live here in Toronto and it is very close by, perhaps put in a good word for me? I beta tested more than 5 games and I have experience in ESEA-O, UGC, XPL, and TWL div 2-4. Last edited by NeoRussia; 02-01-2010 at 10:46 PM. |

I got one too but we didn't sign an NDA so I don't think it's particularly secretive.

To put it simply..
Its a way to pay into events, complete and the top xx seats receive a payout. Seems for smaller 1v1, 2v2 type setups. Due to the fact actual money plays into it (pay to enter an event, something coming out) gambling laws come into play, honestly, some states in the US may not allow it. From a purely legal sense, I think ESEA requirement of paying to compete for a prize may break the gambling rules in a couple states. Luckily it's small enough no one will will likely notice it. |

Hey guys,
Still looking for just a few more TF2 testers. Some members of this forum were already accepted ![]() And as a note to gambling laws, as always, you should reference the laws within your state before doing anything (online or offline). However, because these are games of skill and not chance we're dealing with, internet gambling laws do not apply. In short, you won't need to worry about the FBI knocking on your door simply for helping to beta test this service
