its called hindsight bias.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindsight_bias

I seriously doubt you thought throughout the movie that he was patient 67, which in fact he wasn't cause the patient who went missing never existed so there was never a 67th patient to begin with. Only 66 just like the records showed. Once you know however you can look back and see all the points where it becomes clear. hindsight bias.

You can doubt all you want broseph. I dont know what hindsight bias is seeing as I almost decided a film major over a music major.

you thought Teddy was a schizophrenic? People creating false memories for something to block the pain of reality is a pretty common thing so i was able to accept that. When he saw Chuck down on the rock i thought he was creating a scenario for as to why his half smoked cigarette was sitting there. Accoring to Ben Kingsley the woman in the cave wasn't real either...so that whole thing could have been a hallucination.

Trippy stuff i got no idea lol.

Ya. She was a hallucination. O also my fav part was where he asks the doctor is it better to die a hero or live as a monster. I think teddy knew he was getting the lobotomy.

On topic: The critics are pretty damn straight on this one. Leo did really step up to the plate in this movie.

made sure not to read this thread till tonight after seeing it.

First. Great movie.

Second, was I the only one who thought that he was faking being still mentally ill at the end? Sabr, you got the line all mixed up. It goes, "I wonder, is it better to live like a monster, or die a good man?" With the way the doctor (chuck) looks at him, you get the impression that Teddy would rather have the memories erased, via the lobotomy, then live with the knowledge he has finally grasped. Thus, he pretends to be "Teddy" again, even though its extremely nonchalant, and he even openly and calmly walks with the orderlies as if he knows exactly/wants what is going to happen.

Hey i have an idea. Lets analyze a shitty movie....

Which in fact was COMPLETE GARBAGE

So they make them out to be badass marshalls who fucking killed people in the war... awesome, there goes the best 10 minutes of the movie.

Then they fill it with a bunch of boring "Detective" bullshit.

Then at the end the guy turns into a huge pussy.

End of movie.

Thank god i saw this at a cinebar, or i would have been fucking pissed.

And for the record cartire, the line was "is it better to live as a monster, or die as a hero"

For the record, your an idiot. I had just walked out of the theater remembering that line entirely and it was good man

You lose.

And I understand your on this new path where its funny to try play devils advocate to everything that happens. I dont really say troll, cause a troll is actually someone who leads the topic of conversation away. You just tend to get a kick out of talking smack. I understand it makes you feel cool. But honestly, its just a waste of space now, so will talk to you later.

Thus, he pretends to be "Teddy" again, even though its extremely nonchalant, and he even openly and calmly walks with the orderlies as if he knows exactly/wants what is going to happen.
i thought that as well, good movie though it was a mind fuck though...i liked it.

* chuck body on rocks, imho was him trying to justify his constant dissapearing and journey to get to the light house

* RUN, everyone was in on it...she was a nurse posing as an patient. "you have had free run of the place for the last 2 days to do as you wish" just part of the process.

overall great fucking movie

The Nurses were pretending to be patients? Holy fuck that clears things up a lot forgot about that part. I was watching the interview scene yesterday during some downtime at work and i was thinking like how did they get the patients in on this. glad i figured that out

I don't think they ever said straight up that the nurses were posing as patients did they?

Not from what I recall. Zack, remember when Teddy was talking to "Chuck" at the time after the interrogation scene and he says something like, "It's as if they were all 'coached' to talk to me..." Something like that. Just another tid bit that I think could have been a clue.
