But i do find the banning a little off key we should just rename the whole l4d forum like i said and turn it into a general gaming forum. let those l4dnao faggots have their fame with a dying game.

the only bans that have been issued were for posting porn...that isnt off key, if you all want to completely turn this place into a shit hole and more of a complete joke than it already has turned into then by all means....

not going to lie though, this place was at one point the pinnacle of L4D and imho because of broken game mechanics, lots of impatience, lots of "BAD GAME IS BAD" quotes, lots of people not giving a rats ass this place has dwindled down to nothingness with the likes of constant trolling and belittlement towards others. yah it sux but it is still a fun game and there are still some teams playing it, and mods working on trying to make it competitive. i get the fact that alot of teams arent playing it but i dont see the constant need to belittle or shit talk those others that still do. move on, move out find another place to call home or whatever you are looking for.

i agree there should be more game forum sections, that would probably be very helpful and useful. but that needs to be done by graham or ben i believe.

Users being surprised by moderation is a bad thing.

If you wanted the site to maintain basic quality control, there should have been actual moderation from the beginning, not whenever something becomes "a problem". Something Awful has the best moderation on the internet. Simple loose rules and upholding them for every post, ban the user for a short amount of time to say "none of this shit". Or even declare "if you post x you will be banned permanently" if a user is especially shitty. It's fair, keeps things focused and prevents your community from becoming overrun by trolls and idiots. Declare ridiculous rules for specific problems. This kind of moderation requires of a sense of humor, the ability to be truly neutral (even with your "bros") and a taste for schadenfreude. So... basically impossible here.

Too late now though; this forum has no content worth saving. Just advice for the future.

That's not what I meant; that's being lazy. "We don't moderate much, just porn really" is a horrible set of rules. 4chan's /b/ has that set of rules, and they just don't allow 1 specific type of porn. So they're even more of a "loosest rule places you can find".

By loose I meant broad rules, vague even. As long as they're used, and using them keeps the forum aimed towards the theme of the site. You need to be able to stomp out the shit that clearly nobody cares for. You don't have to be a dick in order to moderate, you just have to care enough to maintain standards and punish anything that detracts.

As for CEVO, I've never played L4D2 as a starter and have less hours than pubbers. Will stay that way. My criticisms are too hard to swallow for L4D players, and sharper than the final turn in the Olympic's luge. No man can dine on my sea urchins.
