Hi CommFT,
I'm AlphaChannel, and I'm a bit of a stat head. I was hoping to do a little advanced analysis of PUG matches, such as modeling how important kills and deaths, ubers and captures are to winning in each phase of the game. It is my understanding that the pug channels are affiliated with CommFT. I was wondering if log files of the matches from the tf2.pug and tf2.pug.na are or could be available for download. Thanks everyone, |

Thanks Graham, this is a great start. This system wouldn't by any chance make the raw log files available (e.g., l0119001.log)? The raw logs would be a bit easier to work with for my purposes.

The log files are there for download you just have to know the exact name of the log to grab it, it isn't particularly easy to guess. I can send you a few log files if you need them from our PuGs on my server for testing.
What is your goal, I can help out however I can. |

Personally I think the most important stat is the number of matches played, but overall I think it is pretty great, also would like to know if it would be possible to have more in-depth stats such as most played class, best at class, off classing ratio, topfrag and bottomfrag results etc.

Hehe, I figured it might be the case that the files would be there if I guess the names. I tried guessing a few common formats to no avail.
I've done some analysis before on logs from a payload pub, so I'm prepared to work with the text logs. The text logs would also have information that the stats summary doesn't, such as exact timing of kills. My eventual goal is to come up with some explanatory analysis to why games go the way they go, then perhaps build up a predictive model that gives a numeric value to some of these. For example, just how important is the demoman vs. the medic vs. another class in the mid-fight in terms of how often the fight goes to the side with the pick, how important is uber-advantage vs. a pick for starting a push, et cetera. My inspiration is the site http://www.advancednflstats.com, which analyzes NFL football in a similar manner and has a nice predictive model based on past stats, and gives live in-game win probability. |

Cinq is the guy who coded all of the tf2pug stuff and he has his own statistical thing as well, so i'd recommend going to see him about it.
He's usually hanging around in the #tf2.pug and #tf2.pug.na channels. |

Hawkeye, if you could help me find the format of the filenames for the URL so I could download them, that'd be great.
I'll have to ping Cinq and get his input. It seems like there's at least some interest in this, which is encouraging. I'll try to get something preliminary out quickly. |
