Default Total Gaming League and TF2

Thought i drop in and let you all know that Total Gaming League is considering kicking off another season of Team Fortress 2. Just depending on the amount of feedback and comments we get. I currently have a Poll up in the TGL Forums attempting to get some feedback.

Poll Link

As for prizes right now i have none. I am currently asking MyIS for some.

As for admins to run the TF2 Section, I have none. Anyone willing or wanting to step up can complete a Admin App.

Yeah.. TBH I'd rather not spend the time to sign up to answer a poll that may or may not come to fruition.

That being said, count my vote for 6v6.. it's the standard competitive format, and you'll get the most teams by using that (with some proper advertising before the season starts, as well).

doesn't do any good to say HERE that you support it, they're probably not going to check these forums.
if you want to see it happen, then vote yes.

No point in doing any legit TF2 competition unless it's 6v6.

Thanks for the amount of feedback.. I am seriously wanting to get this league started. I had it started awhile back but the game started to die down. I am trying to get it restarted. If the community would like to get it started again lets make it happen. I am open to any and all feedback from the TF2 Community to get the League kicked off again. Plus if anyone wants to step up and get it running, feel free to apply. I personally dont play TF2 so i cant really toss a ruleset together that the community will like.

After speaking with a few people on XFire and forums, I have opened the sign ups for a TF2 6v6 League. Ruleset, Maps and everything else is Pending. Once i get a staff to run the TF2 section and enough teams the league will start.

I suggest that you guys go to the TWL and competitive match format threads in this same section of the forum — there's some hot feedback and shit in there about this format and rule set stuff you want.

btw as the guy who lead the group that determined the latest CEVO season's maps, I would like to recommend coldfront, mainline, gorge, gravelpit, and obscure. I'd also advise against KOTH maps and advise for CTF maps.

The general idea:

4 push maps
2 CTF maps
2 stopwatch maps

As it stands right now, Mach4 and Turbine are possibly the most hated maps in TF2 competitive right now.

No Badlands, Viaduct, Gravelpit which are among the favorites of the players.

Here was the vote (favored on top) from the voting I did for XPL.

cp_badlands
cp_granary
cp_freight
cp_gullywash
cp_gravelpit
koth_viaduct
cp_yukon_final
cp_follower
cp_well
cp_obscure
cp_freight_final1
cp_coldfront
cp_mainline
cp_gorge
ctf_turbine
cp_pro_dustbowl
cp_prolane
cp_fastlane
cp_indulge
koth_aurora
ctf_mach4

TGL season 1

one of our starters (Makaveli) was banned from the league five minutes before the finals match, while already in the server.

the reason: a bogus ban from a pub 95% of all competitive natural selection players were banned from.

the more you know

Turbine's not hated all that much. It's just not preferred by a lot of players because most NA teams are fucking terrible at playing it

Cleaned up the thread, please keep things on topic (in this case TGL) and not about players.

As far as TGL, besides the map list a bit, The point e brought up above does show me some concerns, that being said, I would like to know more about the Anti-cheat policies and how they are applied.

There is more to the Makaveli ban that i wont go into details on. His ban was lifted. I dont discuss in public any bans. Bans are between TGL and the Player Banned. I just reread over some of the info on the Mak ban does raise alot of flags. I will leave that issue at that.

TGL does have a strict AC Policy. If we find vaild proof that a player did cheat at any time on any game he/she is banned from all games in TGL. As for the AC Program that we use, it is currently not being used. Its pending a update.

With Steam its kinda tough to find out if a player was or has a cheating background unless you find a legit steam id that is banned. I have been trying to contact steam about this, without any luck. We do have other ways to do research on a player.

I am seriously wanting to get another season started within TGL. The TF2 Community is still kicking.

I was more asking about what is considered proof, does a ban in CAL or other league mean a ban for TGL etc. I would like to know since no AC client is being used at all at the moment, what is the guidline for bans (the fact the ban above was unbanned lets me wonder on the overall policy not a specific ban)

Do bans on Public server matter? Other leagues?

Legit-proof.com is your best way at the moment, but somewhat useless as msot leagues do not share proof just the presence of a ban making the concept of publishing a ban somewhat pointless honestly.

if banned in one league TGL will honor the ban, unless the league that has the ban is a uncreditable league.

I know one league i wont name that does have a Senior Staff Member that has a Punkbuster Global Ban.

This is pulled from the Ruleset.

Quote:
The Total Gaming League is making use of a zero tolerance policy on cheating. If we receive valid evidence of a registered TGL player cheating in any competitive multiplayer game, that person will be permanently banned from TGL competition. We don't care if it's America's Army, StarCraft, CounterStrike, Call of Duty, Quake, or Checkers. If we have evidence of online multiplayer cheating, the player will be banned. We do not wish to award cash and prizes to individuals that have a problem with fair competition.

Since we’ve opened as a competition site, we’ve heard virtually every excuse possible. The overall guiding principle to our ban criterion is: You are responsible for everything that happens on your computer, your unique game ID, and your IP (to a certain extent). Obviously, with dynamic IP addresses and the massive amount of variables inherent with the internet, IP bans may require additional evidence before being executed. Your user account IP addresses ARE logged for anti-cheat purposes.

Sorry, but that map list is obscenely bad, and I can't imagine you guys gaining much steam unless you launch it with a much better rotation.

cp_badlands
cp_gullywash
cp_granary
cp_gravelpit
cp_yukon_final
cp_freight
cp_follower
koth_viaduct

That's a map rotation right there. Other possible candidates are cp_mainline_rc6 (where they made it not a spammy hellhole), cp_prolane (I think rc3 is the good one...not sure though), and cp_well.

Basically avoid ctf maps. They never end up being as fun as everyone thinks they might be. And just delete junction altogether. I mean from your hard drive, and then burn your hard drive just to be safe.

your maplist is very vanilla, dancing — and i don't like vanilla. i prefer rocky road, or mint chocolate.

my point is: ... well actually it doesn't really apply since this is a smaller league, so yeah why not let them use a vanilla map list. let the bigger, more popular leagues be the ones who introduce newer, more unfamiliar maps. yeah.

nevermind i support dancing's maplist.

nevermind i support dancing's maplist.
It's vanilla because most of us aren't going to join a league where we have to play four shitty maps.

Most popular maps are popular for a reason (read: they don't suck), whereas the majority of unpopular maps are unpopular for the opposite reason (they do suck).

Obviously there should be a chance for people to play some of the newer custom maps. It's called the pre-season.

saying most everywhere is a pretty dumb talking point. most people are dumb. most people are smart. most people like to have anal sex.

the majority of unpopular maps are unpopular because nobody's given them a chance because they think that they are unpopular because they suck due to idiots who talk about it on forums and spread the idea with absolutely no reasoning other than 'its not badlands'
