They usually start signups right after finals and it begins maybe a month or two after the previous ends, iirc

For div1 yes, but some people actually like playing in it if they don't have the money for ESEA-O, and they want fair and balanced divisions for the most part.

CEVO players aren't that good. any low team should choose CEVO over TWL

the TWL playoffs might be slightly delayed due to staffing problems, but the playoffs only take a couple weeks to complete, so I expect an announcement soon.

how did your placement matches go before the season started? they give you the opportunity to play at a higher div if its your first time, if i remember correctly.

Yea twl's earliest basis for a placement of skill is your qualifier, if you didn't defeat your qualifier you get drafted into a division lower, there newest system of changing out teams after the end of a season to more balance the skill pool for each division cannot take effect until after the season, so if you found yourself outclassed in division 4 you'd have either ended up there yourself, or for some reason you are one of the rare few who scheduled a qualifier and never got one.

Whatever the case, i'm sure you'd had some more than adequate competition in my team :) Ofcourse 3-4 good teams amongst 20-30 bad ones a league is not, but you get stuck with what ya got i guess, we bunked our qualifier as we hadnt played in 3 weeks, we had uber ping from downloading midterms on servers, and i had a rig so old the fan was made out of paper back novels.

But I couldn't drop out of a league that id already committed my teams name to.

He's right. I mean the only division where there seems to be a total roll is div 1 where THPS is just taking names. If you're in div 2, 3, or 4 you should expect some competition in some form. I mean being in div 2 we've played our share of tough teams while some weren't that good either.

I've been trying to help out the league as best i can without actually stepping onto the staff, however that seems to be difficult, so i've sent some of my best clan/community staff over to apply for a seat on the staff, and see if we can do a job in fixing it.

They're really isn't anything wrong with twl, its just un-responsive, slightly disorganized, and occasionally slow, all of which isn't the leagues fault itself, but the result of a shortage of staff.

Uhhhh, a few years back, almost all of the work was done by one guy. The rest was idling in IRC and helping out with day-to-day stuff (whatever the term for Customer Service would be). It's not a problem with not having enough people. The people working just, to be totally blunt, don't know what they're really doing.

Yea i can agree to the one man doing the work thing, i'm just saying without that one specific person its hard to do that, a task force spreads the work out easier and they're less inclination to quit

that one man's name is Princeofhonor and tbh, the entire volunteer community suffers from that fate. The old volunteers, on top of never having done anything, found out that actually doing stuff took time out of their life. Something I guess just didnt compute when they started I guess.

good joke, PriceofHonor didn't actually take the time, usually the smallest things took 2 weeks to get done, and then he'd put people in charge that were completely incompetent

He really doesn't. The higher up admins all suck, they don't know anything about the games they admin, and the league seriously suffers because of it. He put secretsauce in charge of TF2, even though, literally, all the other admins knew more about the game then him, he didn't even know what week we were playing. He put up a vote to change indulge after it had already been played. At the time he was promoted or whatever he wasn't even play in the league, his div4 team never actually played a match.

To be honest, for the Division in TWL to work without the admin issues, it make more sense at this point to have a 6v6 ladder, drop the 5v5 fast attack, and every couple months, let the top 16 have a playoff, while the rest still play the ladder. The ETF2L scenario is much more matured then anything in NA TF2 with the skill divisions it just simply is not going to work in North America until we get there and people are jumping the gun a bit.

That way you don't have team placement issues, or anything else between seasons, the team can just start playing. The huge issue with the divisions is getting the qualifiers played. Team Charles was nearly placed in Division 3 to give you an idea of how insane the entire process is.
