Maplist Nominations, 9 weeks. Post 'em if you've got 'em.
I promise badlands, granary, and gravelpit will be in this tournament. Custom maps will be considered but most likely not used. My proposal in no particular order:
And I apologize for atrophy, I was young and naive. I guess I should also clarify that the cash prize values are relative to how many players we have. If we have 2 players, the most we can offer is $10; if we have 64 teams registered, we'll be able to offer first prize of $1,000. |

Freight, Foundry and Lakeside aren't the greatest. I'd much rather see Snakewater, Standin, Obscure_remake, or even Ashville if you absolutely had to have a second koth map.

You will not see Standin in this tournament because it is not a stock map or even a standard competitive map. Obscure, on the other hand, is my favorite map; though most players don't share my enthusiasm.

No Foundry, No Lakeisde. I like the idea of getting Snakewater in there. I'd prefer the "improved" versions of maps, for sure... warmfront and pro viaduct. Why not a Turbine Pro for fun? CTF gets no love anymore...

Your love for the QuickFix equals my love for CTF.

What is with all the foundry hate? Valve finally gives us a decent map and you are not willing to give it a chance?

My biased opinion:
Remove warmfront, freight, gully, lakeside (maybe it's good? But I've never heard of it). Add snakewater, standin, pro turbine (I love ctf, so what?), and, uh... maybe leave gully in. Also, foundry is a good map. Leave it in. |

I'm not really keen on adding CTF maps since the community is pretty split on the quality of the mode for competitive play (myself included). HOWEVER, if you put up a good enough argument I'll be tempted to reconsider.
Another key thing to consider is that the maps need to be STANDARD to ANY mode of play, whether it be pub or competitive; just because a league used a map one time does not mean it is a standard map (aka standin). I'm OK with swapping out Foundry or Lakeside for Snakewater. Last edited by dubel_07; 01-20-2012 at 07:53 PM. |

While lakeside is a blast in Highlander, I have to agree it's not such a good choice for 6s. Snakewater is a great alternative.

freight, seriously? is this because it is euro rules?
i'd probably say esea map rotation + yukon/foundry. maybe add both and replace standin/fronts/whatever. Last edited by prestige; 01-21-2012 at 03:25 AM. |

I don't care if freight, lakeside, or foundry are "standard" pub maps, that doesn't make it okay to just throw them in there. |

lakeside and freight shouldn't even be in this discussion.
clorg what I think he's saying it is has to be a vanilla game-type, aka 5cp, attack defend, or ctf |

Do the people asking for follower remember playing it back in s3-s5? It's not as bad as some maps, sure, but I think the glaring problems with it -- not worth holding yard, incredibly hard to stop backcaps to 2 (backwards dropdown) -- that disqualified it as a league choice back then are still compelling reasons to not play it.
Then again, I guess if you're opposed to standin and foundry, there aren't enough maps left and you have to use follower... |

I just have really fond memories of follower and still have more fun on that map than other maps like warmfront. I want to give other maps a chance to shine though too, and would love to see warmfront, viaduct etc replaced with foundry, croissant and the like, if only to see how they play out.
I guess my choice would be, this comes as a caster as much as a player. granary badlands gravelpit croissant the new standin snakewater follower cp_ashville (is it closer to being done now?) follower/gully |

one could make the argument that, to go with the vanilla team, perhaps the maps should be either nostalgic or popular in europe

Obscure's biggest issue was it was very stalemate prone, I remember watching matches that ended up being decided by who owned mid in overtime. It's not a favorable pace for a comp map since it gets very boring for the players. I really have no idea why it keeps getting brought up..
Follower also has some issue's that Sigma pointed out previously, but it was at least fun to play on. Obscure simply was not fun for anyone. |
